You're right - they can't all be right.
Science has laws and theories (and postulates and theses also). Laws are considered to be irrefutable fact. Theories are just that - it's not concrete - it's a set of ideas on what might be the truth. So even science considers evolution as less than a proven fact.
One question I've never seen adequately answered by any anti-creation folks is "where'd all the stuff come from?" It's a law of science that matter cannot be created nor destroyed. And the Big Bang Theory says the universe came from an explosion. Where'd the stuff come from if matter only changes form? The only logical conclusion is that it was created.
As far as how the different species were created - I've read nothing in the Bible that diagrees with the idea of evolution - the first life was in the water - then on the land - and man last. It follows the pattern that evolution came up with - it just got there about 4500 years earlier.

I'm sorry, average_guy, but this is a complete misunderstanding of science.
It's like saying gravity isn't a fact. And I shall explain why.
When you drop an apple it falls towards the centre of the Earth. This is observable. And an observation is a scientific fact. Every time an apple is dropped and it falls, an observation of gravity has been made. Gravity is measured every time something is weighed. So gravity can be described by scientists as a fact. This is because there is a collection of gravity observations that need to be explained. And observations are facts in scientific language.
But how gravity works is a theory. The original theory of gravity was developed by Aristotle. This was replaced by Galileo, then Newton and then Einstein. Each successive theory fine tunes the original hypothesis bringing the theory closer and closer to reality.
Evolution is the same. Fruit flies changing generation to generation is an observation of generational organism change. Organisms changing generation to generation is called evolution. So in the same way as gravity is a fact, evolution is.
But the theory of evolution is like the theory of gravity. Lamarckism, Transmutationism and Orthogenesis were created as explanations of the "fact" of evolution. These are now obsolete explanations in the same way as Aristotle and Galileo's explanations of gravity were off the mark. Darwin's explanation of evolution is approximately correct, but required refinement. The Neo-Darwinist explanation is a refinement of Darwin's explanation of evolution. Neo-Darwinism is currently the most accepted explanation of the "fact" of evolution.
The Neo-Darwinist explanation of the "fact" of evolution is called the Theory of Evolution.

Well for someone that used to be in the same shoes ideologically as you are. Who believe that science has proven itself to be true. However, if you would be as honest with your observations as you would like all people to believe in the so called "scientific data" you would see that all their scientific data is speculation on what they feel those events define. How can you be absolutely sure that they are telling you the truth of those facts, and how much of those "facts" are you really taking by their word alone, and the data they say must conclude thus and so. Don't believe everything that they say, half of what you hear. The media itself is a propaganda machine. Look and make right decisions for yourself.
You may find they are not as stable as you think if you have the courage to go and find the real source of all knowledge.

I am religous but not Christian. I agree that arguing over which God or group of Gods is best or most powerful is pointless, however I still believe that the Gods created the world and I choose or rather believe it is right for me to worship the Celtic Gods.
As for why we religous people see the world differently to people who aren't religous, well I could say a lot but it boils down to 1 small word-FAITH!!!!

I would like to recommend a good book by agnostic Michael Denton. Evolution a theory in crisis. I challenge thee to read it. I don't really use thee in everyday language however since much of this forum is ripe with stereotypes I thought it might be fun. And grasshopper those who look for holes find them but those who seek truth with all thier heart find it.

Wouldn't that make you an Atheist instead of an Agnostic?
I haven't heard many Hindus (and I know a good number) saying that they're God is the only one, because there isn't just one for them. Please don't put them under the same umbrella as the Abrahamics.

yes I do.
why can't you see something that is so obvious to us Christians? when science is all said and done, you turn around and find the Lord was there, right at the start, the big bang and all your theories. Why and how else would we have managed to overcome the overwhelming odds to survive and evolve as we have? Wake up to the truth and rejoice

The Almighty YHVH created this world very good. Once man sinned, he could no longer meet the requirements of YHVH. Because of His great love for man, He sent His son the Savior. The Savior's name means YHVH is my Savior!--YAHOSHUA! The only way one can have his sins taken care of is to invite the Savior in to carry them. If a person chooses to remain attached to their sins, they will be consumed in the cleansing fire the Almighty will send to cleanse this world so He can make it new! How could the Almighty be more generous?

I wouldn't say such things if I were you. Your ignorance is annoying. There is ONLY ONE GOD. His name is Jesus! You will have to answer to Him someday. I would evaluate that statement if I were you. I believe that God sent His one and only Son to die on the cross for all of our sins.I believe that Jesus is the only way to get to Heaven. At least I know where I am going when I die.
