Try switching to a cat food that helps prevent hairballs you can also get treats that prevent hairballs too. We also use a product that we purchase at Walmart it is made by Petkin and it is called a Hairball Lickstick here's the website from the back of the packaging www.Petkin.com. If these suggestions don't help I would consult your veterinarian I wouldn't give my cat Vaseline that doesn't sound very safe.

Hey Hon, you need to go and get you some hair ball remedy and you can get it at PetSmart or wal-mart and most cats like it as it tastes like molasses. You just put it on your finger and most cats will lick it right off. But some don't care for it so just open their mouths and stick it on their tongue as it is thick and it will stay on their little tongues. If this doesn't work for you then put it on their paws and they will lick it off and this stuff works as I use it on all five of my cats. The hairball food does not work as far as I am concerned but it does help. also you said you brush them, that is good as you are getting alot of hair off of them that would wind up in their little bellies. But all cats will get a hairball at some time no matter what you do so just keep up the good work and get you some hair ball remedy. It comes in a tube like toothpaste. Good Luck

There is a dry cat food that helps cut down on hairballs. You can
always give them a little butter once in a while or grown some
organic grass for them to eat. Call your vet and ask if they
have any suggestions and or products you can use.

The best thing to use is Vaseline (petroleum jelly). Some cats actually like licking it off! - so strange, I know. Put a gob of it on your finger and see if your cat will lick it off. If not, give it a gentle shove into her mouth, she will down it. Do a few times a week at first, then down to once a week, then every two weeks. Vet approved, and works really well.

Try getting catnip leaves and let them eat it if they will (daily), or buy some of the containers for cat grass; let it grow and let them chew on that. The roughage helps break up the hairball so it can be passed.

Try putting a dab of Vaseline on their noses. They lick it off, and for some reason, helps with the hairball situation.
