Most Animal Control organizations will hold strays for at least 48 hours to give any owner a chance to claim the dog, but I would call first thing tomorrow morning.

My grandmother works for the Ft Worth animal control service. No matter how bad the dog is....they are not authorized to put it down unless claimed in 48 hours. They will keep the animal medicated and if not claimed and is still in bad shape they will put it down. Alot of the time, SPCA and other organizations will take animals that need some medical and physical attention. After the dog is in better condition it is to be released to a new family.

Usually, they will do all they can. All you could really do is hope that the dog will be healthy enough to be adopted and maybe make a donation to the animal hospital its in. I once made a donation, requesting it go to a certain animal and it had an increased chance to live. I hope this helps

As sad as it is they very well may euthanize the animal tonight. It depends on how healthy the animal is. If he's alive in the morning you might ask to foster him, because his chances of being adopted are pretty small in his current condition.

I don't think they would euthanize him right away. They will probably keep him about a week, feed him good and see if he puts on weight, check him out for any health problems. If he is okay he should be put up for adoption.

Depends on the shelter, some put them down immediately, healthy or not.

Yes, they will keep him alive for like a week I think. You should adopt him.
