Prevention is unlikely
The ability to get rid of them is discussed and shown in a book called The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It is written for the average person to help themselves but if you use a massage/physical therapist, chiropractor, or Md to help it is best to make them aware of the book (unless they already know about trigger points).
