They will dry on their own in the sun.
Place them between two pieces of screen.
To keep the flies off. They can also be
placed in the oven (gas) at the lowest.
Just for over night. Either way is good.
But I think they taste better after being in the sun.
You might want to use Fruit Fresh..to keep
them from turning brown too quickly. Lots of
other fruits and vegetables can be done the
same way..Placed in zip bags and put in the
freezer, so they won't mold...Good Luck

the old-time way to preserve apples was to sulfer-dry them. you cut the apples into equal size thin slices and placed them on a tray spaced out, leaving a space in the center, where you placed a pile of powdered sulfer, which you then lit and placed a basket etc. over the whole shebang. after the sulfer burned off you'd leave them at least overnight, then place on drying racks to finish drying. they would last almost indefinitely this way. to reconstitute just soak overnight, changing the water a couple of times. then use in pie, tarts, fried pies, dumplings, etc. mmmmmmmm-like granny used to make!
