help how do I stop my dog from pooping in dirt?

My dog refuses to poop on the grass and will only poop in dirt, then he tracks the dirt into the house. I really want him to go on the grass so his feet wont be all muddy. he is an indoor dog. any Ideas.

it sound like the dog pick a spot to go potty. put a little sand in the area or something like that. also put a mat by the back door so the dog will leave most of the dirt outside. also you can keep a small pan of water by the back door to wash off her feet. i hope these will help you
