My osteopath told me that my chronic neck and shoulder pain is caused by the mucles surrounding the sternum. Can anyone help me find good internet resources on this issue?

I am guessing your DO is talking about hypercontracted pecs. Do stretching exercises to pull your shoulders back, same with the neck. Also you do know you can just ask your DO for some exercises, right? They are working for YOU, they need to give you the tools to help yourself otherwise you aren't getting the full benefit.

Muscles in that area may have an influence but are not always the cause of chronic neck and shoulder pain. It depends on what muscles he is talking about. If you have really tight pecs than that can pull you into a rounded position which puts increase stress on the shoulders and the neck. This can also happen if you have weak postural muscles (the ones in between the shoulder blades). You may want to ask for a referral to a physical therapist who would be able to address these issues.

You can go to the company head and present your reasons for why they might want to drop the MSG, but be prepared for them dropping your from their employment. If if bothers you so much you may want to consider not working for them. If that is the case - go back to my original suggestion and at least present reasons why they might want to drop the MSG.
