Why say God and not "a God"? Why assume that everyone beleives in (a) God? Why treat other religions as if they are non-existant?

All religions are one-minded like that.

It depends on where we live and who we bump into on a regular basis and whether they are Christian believers or not. Being around the public I've noticed that many assume we are Christian too. Let's take Christmas or Easter. Don't most Christian communities assume we all celebrate. Or when people say "Have a blessed day" or other like statements that imply they are Christian. I don't think they mean any harm by these quotes. I suppose in all lands whatever their mainstream religion they tend to follow the same pattern.
As for myself I don't fall into that category even though I too am a Christian and believe in God the creator of mankind. I meet people from all walks of life and don't bring up "belief" unless asked.

I've always said you are free to believe what you will. I don't think you have to be christian, or any other religion for that matter. It's each persons choice to believe in whatever God they want to. I always just say God, and figure you can put in whatever you want for that word. It's kinda a given to me.. I guess maybe to some I could see how they could be offended by it. I apologize if what I have said offened you. I mean no harm. Just know that when I say God in things, I mean what ever God you want to believe in. I have enjoyed learning about other religions and I think it's good for us to all learn something that might be out of our comfort zones. Thanks for bringing up this point. I'll be more careful from now on!!!

Not all Christians do that. I sometimes do it, I admit it. Well let me ask you this. When a person on Answers ask Why do you believe in God? What God do you think their talking about?

The most referred to aka flamed God that of which is the Christian/Jewish/Muslim God.

Also does it matter? Plenty of rude people will just bash anything related to God and it seems to them it doesn't matter which God it is.

Not all christians think that... only the somwhat ignorant ones.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have ever lasting life.
That must also mean that whoever dosnt believe, wont.

God is impersonal. Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus, Bahais etc. all believe in God. There is not just "a God" it is "the God." Either we are offending God (a grave sin) or the "non-believers" (well, it's their own faut they don't believe in Him and we're not gonna change our ways just for you guys. God comes first.) To you be your way and to me be mine. Don't impose your regulations on us and we won't impose our holy laws on you (like to believe in God). Peace.

What are you talking about? I've never heard any Christian make a statement that "everyone is a Christian", that doesn't make any sense.

They leave out the article "a" to lay stress on the noun "God". Christians do it out of respect for God. No one is trying to offend you. And if we have to make a choice of whether to please you by saying "a God" or please God (whom we believe is real), we will choose God every time. Again, no disrespect toward you, just reverence towards Him.

I am a Christian, and I don't feel that way. I think that everyone is entitled to their own philosophy on spirituality.
