My two lower wisdom teeth were impacted, so I had them removed on tuesday. Todays sunday and I am still in a small amount of pain. Also I developed two canker sores which are 50% of my pain, but the interesting thing is my cheeks are semi-swollen and I have been unable to close my mouth since tuesday.
What should I do? I heard that warm most towels will help the swelling is this true?

I am taking antibiotics so I doubt its an infection. Also I will start taking motrin will that work? My teeth feel like they are chewing on the walls of my mouth, has anyone had that happen before?

Warm moist towels are a good start. Try taking advil or another ibuprophen product as it is an anti-inflamitory and that will help with the swelling. Warm salt water rinses will do both the extraction site and the cankers some good, but the cankers will last for 7 days reguardless. If the swelling has not subsided by this uesday, go back to whom ever tooth the tooth out.
Good luck

I suggest going to another dentist for 2nd opinion. An impacted wisdom tooth should be removed as it will affect the other tooth. It should also be removed as the food may get stuck at the bottom and will get infected. At the end, more teeth will also be affected by this infection. As it is painful now, very likely it is already infected. If the bottom tooth is removed, make also a point to remove the top tooth as well, because in the absence of the bottom tooth, the top tooth will grow longer and may cause problem in the future. I have mine removed and timely too, because it was going to affect the rest. To lessen to pain until you see the dentist, try to gargle with some anti-bacteria mouth rinse, as this will kill off some germs. But do not delay anymore ... I am not a dentist, just speaking from my experience

Yes the warm towel trick is true. But I would contact your dentist and report this It sounds like you may have a secondary infection and that needs to be investigated and have antibiotics prescribed. Call your dentist immediately and speak with him about the pain and the swelling. It has gone on too long to be nothing.

Time. I had all 4 of mine surgically removed. I couldn't fully open my mouth forwhat seemed like forever ( a week probably). It has been over two years and my gums are still healing. I don't mean there is still open wound; the teeth are obviously very deep and it just takes time.

YES, AT THIS POINT IN TIME WARM MOIST HEAT, AS IN HOT TOWELS WOULD HELP THE SWELLING TO DECREASE BEST, ALSO AN ANTI-INFLAMMATORY MED LIKE IBUPROFEN (ADVIL) WOULD BE OF GREAT BENEFIT.
