He always leaves dead birds infront of my pourch, and in my clean landery basket , where I can always see it. It seems like he does it everyday. when I see him, he just wag his tail , and looks at me.

i tend to agree with everyone else who has refered to it, but he is giving you presents and depending on your cat, he may stop it if when you find such a "delightful" -or gross- gift, you look and act thrilled at the thought, and give him a big cuddle and a kiss, thank him profusely. Then throw it away when he isn't looking. If you try to dissuade JJ by scolding him, this will just make him think that this act of love is simply not big enough for you, and so the next time you find one of his offerings, it will be a much bigger animal. As he thinks that if you weren't happy with the last one, then maybe this one is big enough. He is not trying to be naughty in any way, just give him lots of loves and cuddles, he'll think that your overjoyed with his attempts to please you, but as i said before this depends on your, some when realising that you liked the gift will go out more and more often to get more and more presents - this is not often the case though.

trust me, our house holds 14 cats

good luck

He thinks he's being kind by giving you a meal.He probably thinks he has to seeing as you seem incapable of catching your own birds lol.
My own cat is sweet but a rubbish hunter-she never manages to catch anything-she even loses beetles lol.
You should feel happy it's only birds though my friend has this huge tabby that is about the size of a beagle dog. He's my cats brother but is at least twice her size.It brings his family all sorts of stuff-birds including big birds like crows and pheasants, mice, rats, squirrels, frogs, rabbits and hares. My friends mum actually cooks and eats the rabbits and hares and pheasants which I think is gross.
Last spring was the worst-I get a call from my friend to say the cat had brought home a baby roe deer he'd mauled but not killed-it was sent to a wildlife rescue centre and happily survived to be released in the autumn.

Its a present. for his Mum!

Cats will often take dead animals that they have caught - mice, rats, birds, etc., and bring them into your house. They will leave them in random places - on your bed, near the door, near their food, wherever. Your cat is not trying to send you a Godfather-type message. Cats just don't understand why you wouldn't be pleased with something as interesting and useful as a dead mouse. To them, they are bringing you food. The basic theory is that they are giving you a "present" - you give them food, water, and affection, and they are returning the favour with something they caught. Cats often do this in the wild for others in their family groups.

Accept the gift gratefully - as least she doesn't expect you to eat it. Normally, cats see us as a parent figure, but when they present us with their prey, they see us as their kittens. Consider it a compliment, then just throw it out when they are not looking.
Indoor cats don't have a lot of opportunity to exercise their hunting instincts. That means you'll have to tolerate the occasional catnip mouse or squeaky toy instead

Cats are well known for doing this to their humans. He is showing his love and affection that he has for you. He's bringing you "gifts" to let you know that he loves you very much.

It's a basic feline instinct to feed the family...basically, he views you as his parent--and he want's to feed and take care of you.
even though it's gross--he's doing it out of love! ^^
