Ashamed. By doing that, he doesn't deserve to be called a prophet.

Some Hadith say so. The Qur'an does not talk about any such thing. And if Muhammad married a child of 9 years old. He also married 8 others and all of them were Non-Virgins. He also married all of the last 8 wives in the last part of his life. And this is NOT wrong because he married all of them on their will. And he was a Prophet. A prophet does many new things to establish balance in the society he is born in. To make sure if he was right or wrong, please check the character of this man on a larger basis. When also Solomon had hundreds of wives according to the Bible. And he being one of the prophets did so because he had to maintain a balance in the society. I wonder for those who judge the Ocean water from a drop or the whole OCEAN..?

There is no proof Muhammad actually had sexual intercourse with any of His 12 wives besides his first wife Khadija and another wife Maria. They are the only two who had children. Some people say Aisha was a child when she married Muhammad, but two of his other wifes were over 60 when He married them. The marriages were made for economic or political purposes; a woman who had no husband in ancient Arabia was considered little more than a slave. Muhammad actually married most of His wives to protect them from mistreatment by unscrupulous men. In addition, most children did not live long enough to become adults. Only one of Muhammad's 7 children was alive when He died. In pre-Islamic Arabia, baby girls were considered an economic burden on the family, and were usually killed shortly after birth by burying them alive. Islam condemned this practice. A lot of people like to criticise Islam for polygamy, but the truth is that Arabian women lived in better conditions after Islam than before. For God's sake, women couldn't even vote in the USA until only 80 years ago, more than 130 years after gaining Independence from Britain.

Sunni and Shia views of Aisha
This is from Wikipedia. What it suggests to me is that the rival factions of islam are responsible for the story of a young age for Aisha, to denegrate her and her family's role in the Islamic wars.
from wiki:
Sunnis historians see Aisha as a learned woman, who tirelessly recounted stories from the life of Muhammad and explained Muslim history and traditions. She is considered to be one of the foremost scholars of Islam's early age and is revered as a role model by millions of women.
Shi'a historians believe that Ali should have been the first caliph, and that the other three caliphs were usurpers. Aisha not only supported Umar, Uthman, and her father Abu Bakr, she also raised an army and fought against Ali, her step-son-in-law. Shia believe that she did wrong in rebelling against Ali. [6]

I am proud.
Why would you be ashamed?
Prophet Muhammad is the greatest.
And besides trust me that was typical for a Muslim to get married at 9.

it's about worshiping and believing in one God, and God has wisdom behind everything.
1st, not everything is about sex
2nd, this woman that you talk about was more as a student than a wife, she is the 1st scholar woman in Islam. after Muhammad death she recorded almost 25% of his teaching and wisdom, she helped to carry this religion to the next generation. After Muhammad death there must be some close people to the prophet to remain for the next generation. Muhammad was a shy man, he couldn't answer all women personal questions so he used to give them to Ayisha. scholaras, people and especially women gathered around this woman to listen to her wisdom and teaching. and if it was a big deal back then , then the enemy of Muhammad will talk about it day and night.

Whatever age they actually married, there is no confusion over the fact that the marriage was not consumated until after she hit puberty.
American settlers (and all throughout history) used to do the same thing. Were your forefathers perverts? It wasn't until recent times that the age was moved up for what is socially acceptable.

I'm not a Muslim and I don't know the case or country this occurred. So my only question is "Is this atypical?" for that country. Is he the only one that has done it in that country or are there hundreds of others that have done this not only today but thousands of years in the past?
I have no comment.
