I like Joel. He's always smiling, and it's not a fake smile, either, like I see on some televangelists' smarmy faces.

Joel Osteen is a Faith Movement, pentecostal evangelical Born Again Christian.
Baptists are born again, as well, but have NO
affiliation with the Faith Movement evangelists which are all on Television.

Joel Osteen is Non denominational. His church was originally Baptist when his father founded it in a Houston feed store. And he is as great in person as you see him in the media.

Edit: Now what idiot could give a thumbs down for this answer?" Come on, show yourself. Lol

He was raised baptist but is not a practicing baptist in his own teachings. I've heard him in an interview describe himself as an evangelical christian, which are protestants but non-denominational. They believe in the teachings of christ through the sole authority and inerracy of the bible, thereby, learning through personal experience and being able to relate the truth of the bible to God due to your resulting spiritual transformation. This is opposed to church institutionalized authority.

NO, not by a long shot. Joel is Charismatic. Morals, not sure about that-he's charismatic. They believe they can lose their salvation, go out and have sex with another man, then repent and preach again next Sunday. The they all rejoice that he got his religion again.

I believe he's Non- Denominational, and he is a motivational speaker, but the word of God says that we should use the Scriptures to edify, teach and support one another, so he is doing what the Bible teaches for a generation that needs motivation.

I think he started out Baptist, but went non-denom Evangelical.

By the way, his last name's Cherokee for "thread" (it's a phonetic spelling of "asti.")
