It only hurts for a moment. I don't think that you should be afraid, but you should go to a CLEAN Tattoo and Piercing establishment to get this done. This is because these are trained professionals, and the 'guns' that they use at the mall jewelry stores cannot be broken down to be sanitized properly. When you go to a reputable Tattoo/Piercing place, they will use new needles to pierce with and a lot of time, it wont hurt much at all. At first, it is an intense sting, but that lasts as long as the needle takes to go through, a few seconds at the most. After that, your body takes over and makes it 'numb' for you. You wont feel a thing, but be sure to listen when he/she tells you how to take care of your piercings.

If mom and dad, or even you, are unsure about the Tattoo Parlor thing, some Dr's offices offer piercing that is safe, though a bit expensive. At least you will know it will be sanitary!

Good Luck!

Don't be afraid. I've had each ear pierced four times. Piercing in the lobe hurts less than piercing through the cartilage. Yes, it hurts but it's nothing you can't handle. I have a tattoo, so if I can handle a tattoo, you can handle getting your ears pierced twice. Just think about how much you want the earrings. Make sure you have eaten beforehand and drank some water.

I'd go to the tattoo/piercing parlor to get it done, like the person before posted. It will cost more with needles but the piercing gun isn't sanitary and the people using the guns aren't trained well. Good luck and I hope you like your earrings!

hey, i was jsut like this!

when u go in and ask for them to be done, see if they can do dual gun (just means instead of doing one ear at a time, 2 ppl will come in and do both ears at the same time, less painful and its good for younger kids who want to get it done.) u could also ask them if they can use some numbing cream on ur ears. it will take longer for them to do it, coz u have to wait til its numbed, but its worth it if u dont like pain.

and dont worry about the gun. its not big and it isnt loud when it puts the stud in.

to stay calm, just breath deep and focus ur mind on something other than the piercing. mayb try thinkin about all the ear rings u can wear or how pretty u will look after it.

hope it helps!

look at all the pretty earrings first. Get excited about them. Bring a friend when you go.
And by the way, it doesn't hurt more than a pinch on the arm.
