A challenging question. if the most important thing to me is getting into Heaven, then my "religion" is self centered, and not the true belief. Man was created to be a friend of the Almighty, and ideally my focus should be on pleasing Him.

I don't get up every morning and think about going to Heaven. I have a family, job, house and dogs to care for. Heaven only crosses my mind from time to time. We love and live and work just like you, it is just that we have a hope for the future. Your question should have been, Christians is anything more important to you than Jesus? The answer would be, no.

Getting rich, controlling industry, sending poor people into war, protecting the US 's weathy and the US's oil interests -- if there were oil in Dafur, the US would for sure be there, but there isn't any,---it's just another poor black African problem, and so not the problem of the US.. so the hell with them, leaving children "behind" (meaning uneducated in the US), not providing any care at all to the poor, old or those in financial need, being for, sure anti-black............... sure, lots of things more important to american christians than getting to heaven..... in a word, staying rich.

spiritual growth. II Peter 3:18, "But grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ....." II Timothy 2:15, "Study to show yourself approved of God, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." I am kept alive on earth to fulfill His destiny, which is to become a spiritually mature believer, a spiritual winner. ".....a mature person to the measure of the maturity which belongs to the fullness of Christ." (Eph 4:13-16). Each believer's life becomes a unique expression of the glory of God in both time and eternity (Rom 8:29-30; 9:23-24), but only the spiritually mature believer's life glorifies God by receiving the highest and best that God has prepared for him (Rom 6:1-2a; I John 1:5-2:6). Divine blessings that the Christian can understand and experience and the overt manifestations of the Christian way of life only comes as a result of spiritual growth

Yes many things actually, living a kind of life to influence others to follow the path to God, saving your friends and relatives so you have company in heaven and you are not alone. Living a victorious life here not because you are richer, smarter, have more pride in yourself, but that you look each person for the welfare of others more than yourself.
God does not help them that help themselves?

The whole package is important...Reading God's word, praying, daily devotional, attending church, loving Christ and others, faith, spreading God's word...This is what we do to sustain us and to show our commitment to God...The ultimate goal is Heaven, spending eternity with God and living in lasting peace and happiness...There is nothing more important than this...

There is nothing more important to me than my knowledge of who Jesus is. Getting to heaven depends on our knowing that Jesus is Lord, and confessing our sins.
