As in I have so much anxiety-there are times that I can't hardly drive to work-
can I get help?
I post questions about panic attacks and anxiety- I don't want to get slammed-or get teased or be taken wrong- I recently posted about returning to my job as a flight attendant- my dream job- can I take some time off and get treated for this? I don't want to live off tax payers dollars but I am stuck!

Yes u can. I'm on mental disability for now and plan to return to work soon. SSI will help with ur medical bills through Title 19 (Medicaid) which u can apply at ur nearest Social Service Dept. in ur town or city. After accumulating enough evidence about ur mental condition and have a proper evaluation preformed by a Psychologist or a Psychiatrist, u can opt to apply on ur own but if u find a qualified attorney that specializes in Social Security benefits and trails it's much better and increases ur chances of receiving help financially and otherwise.

You'll probably have to have a psychiatrist's opinion that you can't work to go on disability, however it may be difficult to get your job back if you're considered partially mentally disabled. There are many residential programs that treat anxiety, which sounds like what you need if you're having trouble driving.

You can talk to your employer about a leave of absence. Then go see your doctor. There are a lot of meds out there that will help with anxiety. I know, I take one myself.

Having a really good friend to talk to, exercise, plenty of rest and the right, healthy diet helps too.

Life is hard! And anyone who makes fun of you probably needs to be on some medication anyway!

Good Luck...hope you feel better soon!

I was lucky enough to have family financial support when I needed to go on "mental disability." I know that colleges and universities have medical leave that will cover breakdowns, but I'm not sure about work. See if you can take medical leave, and if medical leave will cover mental-medical stuff. I feel like you can take medical leave from most jobs, but I don't believe they have to pay you during it. I'm not sure. You'll have to ask your employer. Best of luck.

I did for depression. But you probably won't have to if you get this book: "The Feeling Good Handbook" by David Burns. It's a wonderfu guide to overcoming depression and anxiety.

You might be able to get Social Security Disability, but hopefully you can get treatment so you feel well enough to work. See a medical doctor; you'll have to have records from a doctor to get Disability anyway.

No. That is not a reason for disability. You are stuck and only YOU can get unstuck. You need to get into see a mental health professional no matter what you job is at the moment. You don't need to be inpatient.
