The Bible's accuracy and reliability have been proved and verified over and over again by archaeological finds produced by both believing and no believing scholars and scientists. This included verification for numerous customs, places, names, and events mentioned in the Bible.
One among many examples is the fact that for many years the existence of the Hittites (a powerful people who lived during the time of Abraham) was questioned because no archaeological digs had uncovered anything about them. Critics claimed the Hittites were pure myth. But today the critics are silenced. Abundant archaeological evidence for the existence of the Hittites during the time of Abraham has been uncovered.
Bible scholar Donald J. Wiseman notes, "The geography of Bible lands and visible remains of antiquity were gradually recorded until today more than 23,000 sites within this region and dating to Old Testament times, in their broadest sense, have been located." Nelson Glueck, a specialist in ancient literature, did an exhaustive study and concluded: "It can be stated categorically that no archaeological discovery has ever controverter a biblical reference." Well-known scholar William F. Albright, following a comprehensive studies, wrote: "Discovery after discovery has established the accuracy of innumerable details, and has brought increased recognition of the value of the Bible as a source of History."
There are more than 24,000 partial and complete manuscript copies of the New Testament. These manuscript copies are very ancient and they are available for inspection NOW. there are also some 86,000 quotations from the early church fathers and several thousand lectionaries (church-service books containing Scripture quotations used in the early centuries of Christianity). In fact, there are enough quotations from the early church fathers that even if we did not have a single copy of the Bible, scholars could still reconstruct all but 11 verses of the entire New Testament from material written within 150 to 200 years from the time of Christ. Bottom line: The New Testament has an overwhelming amount of evidence supporting its reliability.

Some archaeological evidence supports the physical descriptions of some of the places described. Some of the Kings existed, and the Jews had a brief moment in history before being subjected to slavery under the Babylonians, where they nicked a few ideas which turn up in the bible.
As for the new testament, nothing of Christ exists, he was only around for three years anyway, and the accounts written over 70 years aftetr his death. The account of the early church is rather accurate, except revelations which is an appocalipitacal story which was lucky to get included into the cannon.
However, years of archelogical digs in Egypt being dated to fit into the biblical account has rendered the dating of Egypts antiquities as rather incorrect, and many of the finds are now unable to be accuratly carbon dated. The story of egypt is not so old as the bible suggests, and is in line with more contemporary societies.
as for the stories, nothing survives, nothing exsists to show any of the events described at all, except a great flood of the Black sea, which was nicked from the earlier gilemesh epic....

Archealogical evidence has proven the Bible to be accurate time after time. Herod's palace was thought to not exist -- until historians found it on a dig. We were told there was no record of Jesus outside the gospels. But records from Roman officials prove that Roman police did crucify Him, and they were never able to explain what happened to His body.
In the early 1900's, Christians were always harangued about the Bible being a rewrite of a rewrite of a rewrite. Then in 1947, the Dead Sea Scrolls were found (carbon dated to BC times), and the King James Bible proved to be an exact copy.
The fact is, outside the evolution debate, the Bible has never definitively been proven wrong. There is more evidence, but I won't get into it all on here. Have an open mind and research the evidence. It's really out there.

True.
The bible as fiction is barely readable. As a "history" is laughable. Clearly the authors did'nt even live in or visit some of the places mentioned there.
It is so full of gaping holes that a piece of swiss cheese looks solid in comparison.

The bible is full of scientific facts that probably were not discovered yet: http://www.clarifyingchristianity.com/science.shtml
The prophecies have come true too, they are not general at all and too specific to be made up: http://www.100prophecies.org/

Nothing!
And if Emperor Constantine did NOT make the politically motivated move to Christianity, then Christianity would have died.
And ALL the morons on here would be Muslim!
