although i like practically everyone on the food network ,i would have to say its rachel ray . i like her because she makes dishes that i would actually make at home ,her recipes are not difficult and usually they can be whipped up in no time with everday items most people already have in their kitchens .

Alton Brown. He's funny, teaches some of the science behind what goes on in cooking, has some wicked cool kitchen gadgets, and always provides an entertaining and informative show. You just can't get better than the burping yeast sock puppets, and his alternatives to expensive, single use kitchen appliances just can't be beat.

Following Alton, I'd have to say Emeril Lagasse. He's always entertaining to watch, knows how to interest a crowd and interact with people, and he cooks *REAL* food, not this "dumbed down and butchered" garbage that seems to be everpresent anymore in this age of misplaced health obsession. Plus, on Emeril Live, he has some fun guests from time to time, and Doc Gibbs and the band make with some cool tunes.

There are least four that I couldn't choose between, because they have "different" appeal. Emeril for his "performance" as well as fantastic food, Rachel R. who "eyeballs" it & is very creative, Mike C. also good stuff & sincere. Alton Brown is great for a laugh. What I do NOT like are the "divas" with tons of make-up & plunging necklines, because that is NOT what I'm looking for in food! I like Bobby Flay, too--but feel the Barefoot Contessa is a bit of a fake. To each his/her own, I guess.

Right now I'm stuck on Michael Chiarello. Paula Deen is a close second.

Alton Brown. Rachel Ray and Emeril both get props, too. But Alton is so funny, I love him!!
