Just because its the old testemant doesn't mean God has forgotten his promises, of course they apply today.

This question is too general - you need to get a little specific about which promises and what you mean by "people today".

Some OT promises are Israel-specific and even time-specific, like God giving the Israelites the Promised Land in Canaan around Moses' time. Some were given just to the Hebrews but for an extended period of history - for instance Leviticus 25:18-19 "'Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land. Then the land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and live there in safety."

Today Jews and Gentiles are alike under Grace, and God is not using Israel in a special capacity beyond other peoples, although He will in the future - some of God's OT promises to Israel are yet to be fulfilled.

There are promises in the Old Testament that still apply today, such as "I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth." (Gen 9:11)

There are numerous promises in the OT to send a Savior, and though this was fulfilled historically in the past in the person of Christ, it still applies today in the sense that God still sends the Savior to any who will have Him.

Other "general" sorts of promises also apply, like that God will redeem His people, that He will shelter and uplift them, etc.

It really comes down to what promise you're looking at, whether it's meant for you or not.

Yes, God's people the people of Israel (Jacob) will receive the promise of the covenant. The true meaning of who the people of Israel are is very clearly understood from the Old Testament and they are found scattered among the four corners of the earth according to the New Testament.

I believe so because God doesn't change. The promises made to the people of Israel apply to us today because if you are believer the bible says you are a Jew in a spiritual way because Abraham was the father of our faith. So all those same promises can apply to us too.

The only thing Jesus did away with was the blood sacrifices. Even Jesus used OT scriptures to explain His teachings, and He never said for us to ignore them
