One of my children had this when they were babies and while we treated it with the common treatment it didn't work. There is an old fashioned remedy of treating it with a dye called gentian violet. Thrush has nothing to do with your oral hygene, it's a fungal infection caused by yeast so no amount of brushing, flossing, and mouthwash is going to get rid of it. I believe that you can purchase gentian violet otc but if not ask your Dr. for a prescription. Hope you feel better soon.

The only one I know that works for sure is Gentian Violet.
You can find it at most pharmacies for pennies.......it's technically a home remedy (herbal). However, the Gentian has normal antiseptic properties, and is very benign in the human body.
You simply swab it onto the affected areas (it's got a swabber like you see in mecurachrome) once a day for 3 days.
ONE WORD OF WARNING........DO NOT get it onto your clothes, other body parts, etc. It won't hurt them, but this stuff dyes whatever it touches.....once you are done with treatment, you have to let it wear off (takes about 3-5 days). Since you are treating your mouth, expect to see purple gums for a while.....and make sure it has some time to dry before you close your mouth, or your teeth will tint too......and yes, that wears off.

Oral thrush is very uncommon in adults. Sometimes it can occur in normal individuals who have recently had antibiotics or steroids. It may also however be a hint that something else is going on, diabetes is one example. Full check up at your GP is wise.

Get Nystatin oral rinse from your doctor, swish and swallow or, if severe, Diflucan. Also get some acidophilus to take orally and take plenty of yogurt!
Are you immunocompromised?

Take Acidophillis available at GNC according to direction and it should clear itself up and won't come back. But you have to take it regularly.
