My right ribcage hurts to the touch. Its kinda swolen, and its a little warm. Should i get it checked out? What could have caused it? FYI, I haven't done anything to make it hurt.

Sometimes this kind of pain can be caused by pleurisy which is an infection where there is a fluid buildup between the ribs and rib cage. But even if it isn't, it would be a good idea to have it checked out. Pleurisy is treated by binding the ribs tightly to ease the pain and the patient is given medicine for the infection.

I hope you feel much better soon.

Warmth can indicate an infection in the area, and swelling can be caused by a host of things. I would get checked out at the Dr's office as soon as you can. I wouldnt say an ER visit is neccisary, unless you start to have difficulty breathing or shortness of breath. I work at a medical answering service, as well as am on the way to being an EMT.
