Hopefully, I am correct in assuming that you are a teenager. If so, here goes..........
Unfortunately, you can't control the behavior of others. ALSO unfortunately, you can't control what people believe.
There is, ALSO unfortunately, no way to truly let someone down easy when it comes to a break-up.
If I were in your shoes, I think I would just start to avoid him and hope he goes away. Maybe you'll be lucky and he'll cry on some girl's shoulder and decide he likes her better than you.
In the event that this is not possible, just tell him something like, "I need to concentrate more on my grades". Or even, "My Mom has decided that I'm too young to date". You could give some lame example like, "She thinks SHE started dating too early, and doesn't want ME to make the same mistake." (Or whatever fits in your situation.)
If he gets angry (and it sounds like he probably will), just tell him you were HOPING to be able to do this amicably, but if he can't be that mature you were RIGHT to break up with him.
Just remember that if he DOES try to besmirch your reputation in some way the people who know you and love you are the only ones that count, and if he is willing to sink to those depths GOOD RIDDANCE!!

Just tell him the total truth on how you feel this way if he spreads rumors you can be like that never happened and you know this because ive been nothing but honest with you

Rumors coming from someone that is weird will not make people think anything about you .... unless they themselves are weird as well... and besides that... Why do you care what people think about you? Honestly... what matters if what you think of yourself.. and being with this man is obviously making you upset... Be honest.. sit down and tell him that at this point in your life you need to not be with him.. thanks for the fun but ciao.. and watch out if he wants to see you just being friends... it will mean he hasn't dealt with the break up... he will try to hang on... cut it clean hon.. hard thing to do.. and don't listen to any rumors...

I don't think you should drag him alone any longer than you have. If you don't like them anymore just sit down and talk to him. Be honest though other wise it will hurt him more. Who cares if he spreads rumors about you if you know they aren't true and what really happen then it won't matter one bit.

If he like you than there is no way of breaking up with out hurting him .Think of # 1 First take him aside and tell him that you don't understand his actions so it best that you part friends. If that doesn't fly then say owell turn and walk away.Keep smiling don't worry about rumors laugh them off .Best of luck.

if your to afraid to tell him just stop seeing and talking with him all together hell eventually get the hint. the only thing is why would you want to break up with a sensitive guy there rare you should hang on to him. Why is he wierd? thats not always a bad thing

if he likes u, then he will b hurt if u break up with him. so, u just deal with it if he spreads rumors. u know they rn't real, and so will ur friends, wich in the end is all that really matters.

don't worry about hurting him and if you tell everyone what a jerk he is first and break up with him they are going to know anything he says is just made up to hurt you and they won't believe him.
