go to the vet, your cat needs an enema. If it has been constipated for a long period of time, it could require sedation for manual evacuation. The vet also has medications that you can give to resolve the problem and prevent this from happening in the future. Good luck

See if she will drink some milk. She may not be hungry sense she is so constipated. Call the Vet tomorrow. My Cat was constipated and the Vet had to do the retrieval he went up with a gloved finger and pulled it out. Boy was she ever mad! But she felt better after it was out.She was also put on medications. She had an impacted bowel.

I wonder how old your cat is? Older cats do sometimes have problems with constipation, but not usually younger cats. If this has happened before, your cat needs daily meds to help keep this from occurring again. Since it is happening now, you need to take your cat to a vet. Sometime it takes more than one enema to "unplug" a cat. I asked about how old, because the straining can also be a "plugged male cat who has a very serious urinary infection which can be fatal. Female cats can also stain with a urinary infection that is painful but not fatal as with the male.
Good luck and I would seek help asap

If she isn't going at all, then take the cat to the vet. Could be a UTI or impaction or twisted bowel. You may have to change foods if the cat has an issue. Check with the vet though as it could be life threatening for the cat.

Do you only give it dry food?
Try a can of mushy food and if u dont have any right now add a teaspoon of olive oil to its dry food and mix it together coating the try food evenly.

If that doesnt work as the vet

Ask your vet about a product called laxatone or try something like fish oil. It comes in caps or in an oil that you can pump directly on your kitty's food. They like it, even though it smells awful...lol.
