I think someone jammed snow in my filler cap area. It is solid and goes down at least 12 inches. I scopped out that much and it is still solid way down. Best way is to let it thaw. Dump Heet and fill the tank? Any thoughts.
Yes someone did a bad thing.

That's just not cool. Now you're going to have water in your gas. You might wanna use some dry gas. It's like alcohol that binds with the water to help rid it out of your gas tank. Scoop as much out as you can though. Forget the hair dryer idea... think about it. A hair dryer has a heating element that gets red hot... do you really want to get that near gas vapor??? ?? DAH!!!! Can someone say EXPLOSION???

relies upon on what you think approximately solid ice, and how what your experimental circumstances are. i'm uncertain its sensible to create thoroughly solid ICE. Water while frozen, traps molecules of air, oxygen, hydrogen, and different gasses. as a result while the ICE melts the gasses can escape. in case you do not incorporate them on your dimension, then the melted ICE will weigh a tiny quantity much less... and don't overlook evaporation! If, even nevertheless you think approximately only about all those issues then the frozen molecules of water weigh the comparable simply by fact the melted ones.

Something you might try in addition to these other suggestions, is while you're pouring in the methanol or E85 or whatever, stick a shop vac's nozzle right on your filler as tight as you can. Depending how far down it is, you should be able to suck out some of the water.

edit: Sugar in your gas tank is not likely to do any damage. It will not dissolve.

WOW, you ticked someone off huh? I myself would melt it, BUT then I'd drain the tank too. Get that water out of there. This is problems down the road so to speak. So I would suggest draining it. And putting a LOCKING gas cap on right away. Good Luck and I hope you catch whoever did this.

A little methanol will eat through the ice in a hurry, fill the tank as soon as you can to dilute the methanol and add some additive to displace the water. Methanol is used as a deicer in truck air brakes as well as a diesel fuel deicer.

Do not do any of these things above take your car to a warm garage (providing you have the fuel to do so) and let the snow melt and have your tank emptied. do not send any water or additives to your engine the snow could contain harmful Debra that could ruin your motor,

don't be like my wife and piss people off. get a locking gas cap. heat outside of pipe with warm water . HEET removes water in system. you should be fine unless theres sugar in your gas tank that'll fry rod/main brngs in a hurry. HEET and gas treatment for the next 2 tank fulls should get the water out of your system.

I have had almost the same thing happen to me use Rubbing achohal. it will melt the snow also it will get rid of the water in the gas after. easiest way is pour about hlf a botle slowly with a funel the after that pour the rest in that will take care of the snow in the filler neck then after poor one more bottle in the tank and that will take care of all the other water in the tank. then run all the gas out of it. easiest way to do that is get a 5 gallon gas can fill it and run your car untill out it runs out. then after all of this is done go to walmart and buy a locking gas cap. it helps belive me.

this sounds like a job for e85 , even though your car is not designed for it the alcohol will bind with the water so as not to harm the engine , as for thawing the ice try some warm methyl hydrate , good luck.
