when I trained my mini pin I replaced the paper I had her go on with the litter box. I put the paper in the litter box and gradually took out a few pieces at a time until she was use to the litter. She is 1 1/2 now and when i can not get her outside, she automatically uses the litter box. It worked for me. hope all goes well with your pup

Well I don't know about litter box train but you can paper train them. At walmart there are these absorbant pads that come in a package forthe dog to use. They'll come to it because of a smell or something....I'm not quite clear on that. To keep the pup from peeing elsewhere you can buy a spray at walmart......you spray it where he's not suppose to pee but he does anyway and he'll immediately stop. I am only fifteen and I paper trained my mom's dog and taught him to ask to go outside. Just have patience. Good luck.

Just put them in the litter box every two hours. My aunt has two dachshunds who refuse to puppy pad train and they can't go outside due to their age. :(They'd freeze. So she's been litter-training them. They seem very fine with it, and had no messes since!

what i did for my dog was teach him "potty on the paper" if he went somewhere else we would stick him in his cage for 5-10 minutes and then repeated the phrase several times while he was sitting on the newspaper.
