No. Years and alot of research have gone into making pet food for cats and dogs. They both need much different nutritional requirements. They would become ill if they did not eat the proper diet. Studies have even shown dogs that have eaten cat food for long periods of time have gone blind. So feed cats ,cat food and dogs dog food.

Please do not listen to the other answers who said yes they can eat the same food. They do not know what they are talking about. They should not be eating the same food. Dogs and cats need different foods. They have different nutritional needs. Cat food will make your dog fat and can also cause health problems. What you need to do is get a baby gate and block the puppy from going into the room the cats are eating in. Any cheap baby gate will do just make sure that the puppy cannot slip through the bars because some of them are too big and the dogs can slip through.

Alright i have a dog and a cat , my dog LOVES my cat's food and treats and sometimes my cat eats my dog's food , i think that the nutrients and flavors are different to each cat/ dog like strong big bones that dogs need and teeth and cats need healthy yet strong helping for their body but some dogs/cats are different come to say some might like this and not this or they like both, so if you don't want one of them to eat the other as being rude and unfair to the other animal u could keep them away (say the dog would eat all the cat's food) but you can let them have the others food unless they become sick (vomiting) but for my dog and cat they haven't shown any signs or vomiting so i guess it all depends but once in awhile i will give my dog some cat treats as well.

Dog food isn't going to hurt the cat if she eats it occasionally. Cat food tends to be higher in fat and the dogs will usually pig out on it. That said, I am not a vet and you should ask your vet about your specific cat and the specific foods in question. If it's a small amount and your cat has no health issues, I wouldn't worry, but definitely don't just substitute. Talk to your veterinarian.

no you shouldnt have youre cat and dog share same foods tgether cause theyre made of different kinds of ingredients inside . plus if you let them eat the dog foods might gave them sick . and i bet the foods arent tasteing as same thing . so if you dont have any cats foods to feed youre cats then i will just go to the store buy a big bag of cats can foods instead .

It won't hurt for your cat to eat some of your dog's food, as long as it's not the majority of their diet.

My cats eat my dog's food all the time but they still have their own cat food which they eat as well.

It's safe for her to nab some food out of the dogs bowl. Nutritionally there aren't THAT many differences in the foods...except that cats cannot make Taurine and they HAVE to have it. Therefore, cat food contains Taurine and dog food does not.

No, it's so so bad if they eat the same food. The needs different food & ingredients for different things. They can actually die from eating e/others food. Talk to your vet.
