If your talking about only for the fur...I have no idea. But I do know that some of us kill animals for the meat fur and pretty much everything else because it feeds us, warms us, and provides tools and materials etc.

Because animal fur is by far the warmest covering you can wear. Some will argue the new gortex fibers etc are better, but I've tried both and find natural fibers/furs to be the warmest. I also wear natural silk under garments as they are best next to the skin in cold weather & hot weather too. Wool, cow, calf and pig skin are my main animal products as all other parts are used. You'll find pork, mutten, steak, & veal on your grocers counter.
I do not believe in the slaugter of wild animals as sport or just for the hide & I dont believe it should be done unless the particular animal's population is causing it stress in the habitat. Study up on it dear. And remember the Bible says God gave man DOMAIN over ALL the animals of the earth, however it doesnt mean indiscriminate slaugter. Bless you for having a Heart, now study up. I think that is a thing of the past. I live in Montana and as far as I know hardly anyone really does that any more.
Between the new man made materials, the animal rights activist, and the number of "farms" that are raising once wild animals (for fur). There really is no profit in killing animals for they fur.
Times are changing and so are the laws.

From experience, I can tell you that very few people hunt animals for the fur alone.

I personally have been hunting deer, beaver, elk, black bear (once), rattle snake, and ducks for a decade and have always eaten the meat of the animals I have culled, used the hides when possible, and given the entrails to my neighbor’s dogs.

After putting all that effort into bringing down an animal, it simply doesn't make sense to not use every usable part of the animal.

Because when hunters just ask for the animals fur, the animals never give it up. It also would be inhumane to just wound the animal then skin it alive.

Some and very few people kill them for their fur to sell and make an income. Others just kill them in their spare time and sell the fur. But to answer your question its all for a little pocket change for a night on the town or to buy more bullets.

I like wearing fur. It keeps me warm.

And the little furry animals taste good too.

USDA Wildlife Services, the California Department of Fish & Game, and other sources. Forty-eight such attacks on children and adults were verified from 1998 through 2003, compared to 41 attacks during the period 1988 through 1997; most incidents occurred in Southern California near the suburban-wildland interface. Attack incidents are typically preceded by a sequence of increasingly bold coyote behaviors, including: nighttime coyote attacks on pets; sightings of coyotes in neighborhoods at night; sightings of coyotes in morning and evening; attacks on pets during daylight hours; attacks on pets on leashes and chasing of joggers and bicyclists; and finally, mid-day sightings of coyotes in and around children’s play areas.

This question would be better suited for public opinion on farm raised animals killed for their fur.

farmers who raise alpacas and sheep provide the most ethical supply of fibers for clothes

So.........this is Not a hunting question...........
As I see it there are three options

1. allow regulated hunting (which is what we do now)
2.allow the deer to do as they please and we will see the results of that all over the interstate highways.
3.organize groups of people to hand out contraceptives in the woods to all the deer.
