Bleeding of your gums tends to mean you have gingivitis. Even though you are brushing regularly. Along with brushing with a soft brush and not too hard try using a mouth rinse like listerine or something like that. It will clear up, but if not talk to your dentist.

Bleeding gums are a sign of some problem in your gums, usually either gingivitis or periodontal disease. The main part of the problem is that you aren't getting your teeth clean enough. The best answer is to go visit your dentist for a cleaning. When you don't brush your teeth, plaque builds up on your teeth. Over time, your body will mineralize (harden) the plaque and that's what is called calculus. You cannot remove calculus with a toothbrush so a dentist (or the hygienist) has special instruments to remove it. The plaque has bacteria living in it which your gums sense and your gums become inflammed as your body fights this "infection". Inflammed gums bleed very easily. What can you do right away (before seeing the dentist)?...I would ensure you brush your teeth morning and night and floss every night. When you go to the dentist, ask them to teach you how to clean your teeth correctly...it sounds funny, but most people don't do it correctly. Don't wait, it won't go away by itself.

Gingivitis. You need to brush your gums as well, but with a soft brush and not scrubbing very hard. Also, even though the flavour is awful, use Listerine as a rinse. It fights infections and cavities. I have been brushing well and using Listerine for a very, very long time and have not had any cavities in the 36 years I have been alive.

It sounds like early gingivitis. No matter what the cause you need to see your dentist and get this checked out. Call your dentist in the morning and set up an appointment to get this checked out soon.

Teeth need brushing, gums need flossing .
If you're not flossing start . . . (you may need professional dentist cleaning too).
When they bleed , rinse with hydrogen peroxide (do NOT swallow) .
If not cleared up in a week , see the dentist.

It could be periodontal disease. If that is the only symptom if you have other symptoms like swollen glands, cough, flu like symptoms...it could be something else.....like HIV, have you been tested?
