I have a $600 minolta camera, it is ok. I got it for the zoom.

Now I need to buy a cheaper camera for everyday use. I need one that is digital, under $200 and can catch things in action. I want to be able to catch my son in action, he is a yr old and WILL NOT stand still so it has to be fast.... what can you suggest?

I recently picked up a Sony Cyber-Shot and am very happy with it.

Sears has them for around $230, so, me thinks one can be had for a lot less elsewhere.

It is a 6 MP which is plenty for up to 8 x 10's or so. Also has a movie function for those special moments. Can be used in automatic mode or a variety of others. Worth looking at!

Check out the new Canons and Sonys. Most new cameras are over 7 megapexels now. You can get a bargain on eBay on a new digital camera that's a model or two behind the current one. A 6 megapexel camera is still great. Try to find one that comes with a decent size memory card ....at least a gigabyte.

Buy a Canon A540.. it's fast, has a sports mode to capture the shots you are interested in..

Also you can pick it up for under $200...

I'm sure you'll like this camera and take everywhere you go..
it can fit in your pocket.
