Who has seen the evolution of God by reading the Bible, starting with Genesis? And who has been alarmed by what they've learned?

On the other hand, who has actually felt better in the knowledge that God has evolved? I'm not saying it's a cause for alarm necessarily, I'm just asking.

Replies from Biblical scholars would be greatly appreciated.

Those of you who say God does not change, obviously have not studied the Bible. Sorry.

I'm not sure God "evolved", He just (apparently) changed completely; The God of fire & brimstone and who commanded believers to kill non-believers suddenly got all forgiving. No big surprise when you considered the Bible was written by men...

I am not a scholar but I read the Bible quite a bit. I believe in the Bible record. God does not like everything what has happened in the Bible. God has been always the same.

I think God does not change because of the things he stopped doing or new things he started doing. In the old testament he killed a lot of people because there was nothing to stop his judgment but in the new testament Jesus sacrificed himself so he wouldn't have to judge and kill so many of us because of our sins. He was just as loving and forgiving then as he is now. Jesus paid a huge price for us and is constantly interceding for us and that is all that has changed. God still hates sin and is going to get rid of it someday. His standard is still holiness.

Isn't it strange to even be able to see that God "evolved?" I mean, that would suggest that either God is not perfect because policies changed in those long periods of time, or that people, not divine intervention, wrote those pages.

Scripture presents The Almighty YHVH to man in terms that man can (with difficulty) understand. The Almighty YHVH created this world very good. Once man sinned, he could no longer meet the requirements of YHVH. Because of His great love for man, He send His son the Savior. The Savior's name means YHVH is my Savior!--YAHOSHUA! The only way one can have his sins taken care of is to invite the Savior in to carry them. If a person chooses to remain attached to their sins, they will be consumed in the cleansing fire the Almighty will send to cleanse this world so He can make it new! How could the Almighty be more generous?

God didn't evolve; human conceptions of God evolved.

Fortunately, they still are.
