To call a college graduate, with honors, and a Christian who KNOWS there is a God - simple and illiterate - is blatant and lethargic. To have faith in a God that I cannot see in the physical but have felt His presence and acknowledge His greatness cannot be opinionated as simple.
It is very simple to disavow that a Creator existed, this allows atheists to live a life that will leave one unfulfilled in the end.

What about the Mayans? They're an ancient culture who used religion to explain things but they also pulled off brain surgery and came up with accurate calendars. That doesn't sound simple or illiterate, sounds pretty intelligent to me.

...lol! har har! just look at your details. You want disrepectful answers and not opinions. Athiests have nothing better to do then insult believers. Want don't you guys go do volunteer work or something? It's called being productive.

Well maybe back when people were much more simple and had to live along with the natural world that they couldn't understand hardly anything about....and had stories they believed to have a way to 'understand' some things...which carried over to today as religion...

Yes, they want the universe to be human. So they worship human Gods.
They want to feel comforted by a human God, and they want everything spelled out by a human God.

Jesus tapped into that by promising eternal life, and love and forgiveness; and his life has become a legend, and millions of people say they love Jesus. They've made him into a God, cause he was even more human than the previous God.

Of course, there is no God; but it's interesting how these things work.

Actually I believe that ignorance complicates life rather than simplifies it. What that has to do with the reasons behind peoples spiritual beliefs I can't say.

The will to live is strong in people. They want to live and believe God lives forever. That is pretty simple and require much learning.

My opinion?

If you get mad when religions force their faith on you, give an example by not doing the same thing to them. I have no quarrels with you being atheist, or a believer being a believer, as long as you don't insult the other side. Sheesh.

Have you read any serious religious philosophy? Pick up Aquinas and then tell me that ignorance is the reason he wrote the Summa.

Because most people want to be told what to do. They certainly can't be asked to do any of that reading and pesky thinking. It's easier that way.
