Maybe they are not serouis. Or he or she just wants to hear it like that. Or better yet afraid to make "I Love You" sound serouis because they might be afriad what will happen.

some may jokingly said it because simply, they are just joking & if ever, they don't want the relationship to be serious.
some say it because they are afraid to be jelted & thought that it would be less dissapointing if they said it not seriuosly,the fear of the unkown.. the best defense mechanism of all coward, dumas, s@*t.
what ever they are thinking, never take it seriously when they said it in a joke..
when you love, love..
when you play, play..
never plunge into an unknown river.. remember..
words when spoken & feelings when broken are the hardest thing to repair..
