i would say if she's not trying to take them out than if you can keep a GOOD eye on her you can take it off.....but only while you can supervise her.....that way if she changes her mind once she can get at her stitches than you can take care of the problem before she hurts herself.....if your not there to watch her i would leave it on for the ten days though

If you take the collar off before the ten days are up you are asking for trouble. The vet put that collar on your cat so she wouldn't rip out the staples. If those staples are removed before the ten days are up chances on a big infection set in or the incision site will have to be re-stapled. Leave the collar on, if you take it off before the 10 days are up you are asking for it. You will not only have to pay the vet more if this happens you will also make your cat go through more stress and pain. If the doctor didn't think it was necessary for that collar to put on your cat he wouldn't have put it on in the first place.

The staples may irritate her skin a bit. The problem is that if you remove that Elizabethan collar, she'll chew at those staples. She won't just take them out carefully, either. She'll pull them out, tearing her skin, opening her incision, leading of course to bleeding but also possibly to hernia. If that happens, she may lick or chew at her muscle tissue or internal organs. it will also make it very difficult to re-suture and could lead to a nasty infection. Please DO NOT take that collar off. I know you feel bad and it seems cruel to you, but it is for the best.

Hi. Plz take the dr.'s instructions 4 the good of ur cat. There r obvious consequences if u do not follow the vet's medical orders. It's hard 2 c ur muffin suffer, but things'll b worse if u take matters into ur own hands. Take care.

I have taken my cats off for a short time as long as she was no my lap or I kept a close eye her,but I would leave it on when you can't devote all your attention to her ,if she gets them out and licks it she could get infections. 10 days not long it will go fast.
