first and foremost please dont use physical punishment. Pup needs to learn that it is unpleasant to bite things. all puppies do it, i have found personally the best ways is using either distraction....so if puppy bites big bang from pots and pans near by....this can work as dogs dont like that sort of noise much and will distract him, and if you continue pup will soon recognise that every time he bites that horrible noise starts up. same rule with using lemon juice, most dogs dont like the taste of it, squirt some in the mouth every time pup bites, will create the same sort of rule that if you bite, something unpleasant happens. If you use lemon juice though be carefull not to squirt in the eyes.

my family has raised pits for four generations, we have always had great luck with pig ears. you can buy them at most grocery stores, or any pet store. pits absolutely love them. unlike raw hide they don't break in to pieces. this also almost always becomes their favorite chew toy, thereby taking the attention off of the other house hold items. the repelent sprays work very well also. pits crave attention, give the dog positive reinforcement or rewards for good behavior. you should discipline the dog firmly, however this doesn't mean you have to hit them. pit bulls are very eager to please their masters, so a good scolding, or show of disappointment really works very well. if you plan to have the dog around children, it's best to expose the dog to them while it's still young. children can be very rough on a dog, but the dog must know it's never ok to bite, EVER. if they learn this while they are young serious problems can be avoided down the road. pits are the most loyal and loving breed of dog i have ever had experiance with. with a little patience, and some time spent training, you will have a faithful companion for the rest of the dog's life.

Pet stores have a product called Bitter apple spray.. you can put it on anything including your skin, and it has a horrib le taste for dogs.....one bite after tasting that they will prob not want to do it again, but if that doesnt work, I have heard of some people using hot cause, weird I know but hey it works, and as a last resort I would use a product called "tiger Balm" has alot of menthol in it. really nasty tasting. But with any training you need to be consistant, and never let anything slide. another great method, is when his teeth hit your skin, even if it is just play "YIPE" as loud as possible in a high pitch. that is what their den mates in a litter would do, so it will startle him. You must remember that he is learning, so you must teach him. if you YIPE any time his teeth touch you, he will learn that teeth on skin is bad. you can also give a very firm NO with the YIPE. but do not hit or anything like that, that just confuses things and there are better ways to handle it. also, a mother dog corrects her pups by biting the back of their neck, so if they are making a mistake and you want to correct it, put a firm grip on the back of their neck but dont hurt them because their mom wouldnt do that. I honestly suggest the YIPING. It WILL work I promise. and use the bitter and tiger balm if he is chewing in wires or furniature. Hope that helps, I am studying to be a dag trainer and an animal behaviorist. and I have also worked closely with the trainer at the SPCA I worked at, I've worked with animals for over 2 years. and trained my "biter" the same way...worked for me. :)

definitely get her toys! NO RAWHIDE. pitbulls have a very strong jaw and are known to chew pieces off and possibly choke=[ try rope, my puppy right now is teething too and lovesss her rope toy. she also likes stuffed animals. my other dog was an akita and when she was a puppy we would give her socks with a tight not in them and play tug a war and stuff
when she bites something you don't want her biting hold her mouth shut and say "no biting" do this consistantly though and make sure that everyone in the household does this aswell!
good luck!!

Get a spray bottle and fill it with water and when you catch him doing bad things spray him in the face and tell him NO .I have three pit puppies that just turned three months old .They stay outside in the kennel so I do not have this problem with them.I did have a shih tzu and this worked for him.Have you tried buying him flavored chew toys or bones? He is teething and he is just trying to find a way to sooth his gums.If he doesn't stop ask your vet. Good Luck!

i am teaching mine not to bite by holding her mouth closed (gently) everytime she bites, then i say (LOUDLY) "No Bite!" and she is starting to get it, becasue after that she will just lick instead...a couple hours later she will bite again, but once i do the "no bite" thing, she gets it....it takes time, but puppies love to chew on things...make sure she has a lot of chew toys too. Good luck!

AWW CUTE LIL PUPPY - ALL PUPS GO THROUGH THE CHEWY STAGE, BUT APPARENTLY YOU CAN PUT A DETERANT SPRAY ON YOUR FURNITURE TO STOP THEM BITING AND CHEWING - I THINK IT CONTAINS LEMON AND PEPPER. GIVE HIM A BONE OR CHEW AND IF YOU HAVE AN OLD SHOE OR SOCK GIVE HIM( HER) A FEW OLD ITEMS WHICH THEY CAN CHEW AND SHRED.
