OK I so relate to you since I go to college and laugh/make jokes from time to time. The key is not overdoing anything. Just be yourself, relax, take a deep breath. A good smile can also take you a long way. Be nice, and plz don't be conceited and treat others with respect. You'd be surprised how many people will want to be with you, if you follow even some of the things that I mentioned above.

I don't know what to say. I'm exactly in your shoes now, I'm shy but goofy and I laugh all the time too. and then i get the comments "why do u laugh so much". It's sooooo annoying. I want to be myself, but I'm afraid to open up b/c I think that ppl won't like the real me (not to mention when I do show a little bit of me, they already look at me like I'm crazy). I only had 1 real, true friend too. Hopefully, you won't have such a hard time as I'm having! So, good luck!

Smile and relax this is going to be a new life for you and many other people too. Try to smile at people this lets them know that you are open to conversation. Join new clubs and organnizations. When you do get in with people don't gossip, don't be malice. Be a great encouraging person. This will follow you into adulthood.

Hey...college is much different than high school. A lot of the stupid little things that you have to worry about n high school is obsolute in college. Just be yourself. I am sure that you will meet a lot of different people in college. Some, you might think, are even 'stranger' than you. Good luck.

Well this sounds more like you want to be taken seriously. Serious people also have a sense of humor. You can express your self through your intelligence as well as your humor and use them together. Don't try to hard to fit in. Who wants a bunch of clones walking around. Dress the way you want to dress say what you feel and act the way you act. Don't feel like you have to prove anything to anyone else or change for others to like you. If they don't like you for who you are then they are probably not people you want in your life anyway. It is refreshing to know people who are different and can present unique views. Learning about yourself is just as hard as learning about other people.
Hope this helps
Bless

First of all, if you are going to college, you need to start acting (and typing) like an educated individual. But besides that, just be yourself, take classes that interest you. Most likely, others who have the same interests will ususally end up good friends.

try and join some kind of group that you're interested in whether it's inside or outside of school that way you'll meet people who like the same things as you and it will be easier to talk about things you know you have in common

It appears that you are worrying to much about what people think about you. You need to be comfortable with you and so what others think...to hell with them. If you want to always smile, then smile...if you want to laugh ...laugh. Just Be!!!

the truth is that you cant be yourself in college, unless your with your true friends. In the classroom, you must please your proffesors if you plan on passing. ya it sux. colleges are full of corrupt staff. they are all liberals. they keep the truth from you. they arent interested in teaching you facts. they want to hypnotize you into thinking like them. sorry for no good news.:(
