now i hear that the comforter shall be someone that comes and glorifies the name of Jesus
as many of you know i believe in spirit communication and spirit glorify Jesus and speak highly of him
now i have also read that spirit communication is the comforter
yet spirit communication is frowned upon by Christians

ok the point is this
i am not saying i am right and that spirit is the comforter , i am using a situation i know of only
but what if the comforter has been and been ignored as not from God due to differences in beliefs ?
thoughts please ?

I suggest you read just what is said about the Comforter (Greek Paraclete=One called along side of, like a counselor or an attorney at law)
Jesus said:
He would ask the Father, and
The Father would send the Comforter
The Comforter would be with you (the disciples) forever.
The Comforter is the Spirit of Truth
The world cannot receive the Comforter
The world does not perceive or know the Comforter
The disciples knew the Comforter, because He abides WITH them
And the Comforter would be IN them.
The Comforter would be sent in the name of Jesus
The Comforter is the HOLY SPIRIT
The Comforter would teach the disciples all things
The Comforter would bring to the disciples remembrance all that Jesus had taught them. (John 14:16,17,26)

Jesus would send the Comforter from the Father
The Comforter would bear witness (testify) of Jesus
(John 15:26)

It was better for the Comforter to come than for Jesus to remain with the disciples
The Comforter would not come until Jesus returned to the Father
The Comforter would convince (convict) the world of sin, and of righteousness and of judgment
The Comforter would guide the disciples into all the truth
The Comforter would not speak on his own initiative
The Comforter would speak the things He hears from Jesus and disclose it to the disciples
(John 16:7-15)

Have to admit, this is one that ties me in knots too. If people believe the Holy Spirit is the comforter that resides within human beings, then surely it helps shape and transform their own spirits, so that when they die and are disembodied, their own spirits are imbued with Holy Spirit, and naturally they will speak highly of Christ - it would be like flames speaking highly of the sun.

I firmly believe that spirit communication is a great comforter to many people, adn I would suggest that while the physics and the metaphysics are as tangled as they seem to be, it would be a brave faith indeed that rules spirit communication out as a way of glorifying its god and bringing peace to the hearts of its people.

Whatever one belives about the existence of God or gods, what remains joyfully true is that human beings are entirely fallible. So even if the words of Scripture are divinely inspired, they have had every opportunity to be misinterpreted by human beings, and spirit communication might well have fallen into a crack in that interpretation, and subsequently, might well have been ignored or rejected on the basis of dogma, rather than on any ultimate understanding of its value or "rightness".

This is an interesting question. Christians believe the Comforter is Holy Spirit and Muslims believe that Comforter is Muhammad. Holy Spirit was promised to Jesus disciples' to guide them to spread the word of God when Jesus raised. I do not believe that Muhammad was in the Bible.

Seriously, Pangel, think about this. Why would Jesus come to Earth, preach for so many years, command His disciples to baptize by the Trinity...only to send someone else 600 years later who totally contradicted everything Jesus did?

Why would Jesus call Himself the Son of God, then SEND someone IN HIS STEAD who says Jesus LIED?

When the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, He was accepted and welcomed by the disciples. The Holy Spirit is the testimony of the promise of Jesus Christ.

When we talk about not communicating with spirits, we're talking about spiritual activity not sanctioned by God. Angels comminucate with us, I'm sure. But spirtual activity not from heaven is a sin.

Christians believe in communication with the Holy Spirit but not other 'spirits'. Yes, I think a difference in beliefs has caused the Holy Spirit to be misunderstood, not necessarily ignored.

The comforter that is mentioned is not Mohammed,or a human. It's the Holy Spirit, that dwells in every believer.Merely speaking highly of Jesus isn't enough to make anyone a believer, otherwise Muslims would be counted as believers, which they aren't.

I'm a little lost. Are you asking that if anyone who came to glorify Jesus was ignored? Then the answer is probably yes, and in this skeptic and unbelieving time, it will happen again. If you're asking if your spirits are part of God's plan and are this comforter, then I have no answer because I don't know.

The Holy Spirit is the Comforter.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth.
The Holy Spirit is God's Word.

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.

God’s Word is His Spirit the Spirit of truth or the Holy Spirit. Not the printed text but God’s will, plan, thoughts, wisdom, knowledge, and His feelings the printed text conveys.

There are evil spirits that are not to be confused with the Holy Spirit who was sent by Jesus to be our guide and comforter. The Holy Spirit is like our conscience....communication to other spirits are wrong. Studying scripture ti know the difference is essential.
Speaking to spirits of loved ones is evil because that is not the loved one but evil ..we know this because of what the bible says about death etc.

The comforter is divine love imparting understanding to the receptive thought, which leads into all truth and surrounds us in peace. It is not a spirit communication, for God is Spirit, and there is none beside Him.
