Now there must be a folded or something that stores all the codecs or what ever so I must be able too copy them from one computer too the other or am I completly wrong.

try installing a codec pack such as the latest K Lite codec pack. You could also try using a better player such as bsPlayer or VLC Media Player

That is correct, you can compare the codecs between the two computers to determine why one will not play the video.

Start->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices Properties->Hardware Tab-> click on 'Video Codecs', then click properties. ->Properties Tab

In the window you should see a list of all the video codecs on the computer.

Hi! I used to have the same problem. My friends can play a file just fine, while on my PC, it asks for a codec.

Sad to say but the solution I found was not to download whatever codec that the file i'm currently playing needs, but to install a different player on my PC. It's called MPlayer, and i've been using it eversince and it has never let me down.

To download, you can check out this link: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html

Hope this helps. G'luck in playing your files.
