I just rang the bird vet, she advised me i dont need a license to own a Macaw parrot. The other issue is the guy selling them is actualy only selling the egg, unhatched and is located in Cameroon, Flora. Very Suss, he is selling the egg for $55, and $100 for shipping the egg with a portable incubator which i have to send back to him once its hatched. He provides a hand booklet on what to do once its hatched.... sound suss or sound like a bargain ?

do not ever buy parrots eggs, its always a scam
plus, macaws are very difficult to hand feed unless you are capable of staying home for 6 weeks and feed it around the clock, if you miss a feeding, it could die, if the formula is too cold it can get a yeast infection, too hot? it melts the crop the bird dies, plus, if you manage to get it to weaning by yourself it will be overly dependant and you will end up with a very bad situation
buy a macaw from a breeder who will NOT let you take your bird home until it is weaned, who will let you visit once or twice a week after sanitising top to bottom and scrutinizes you,, you will be rewarded with a SANE stable well adjusted bird, for the next 80 YEARS

Hi there. It takes a lot of work and dedication to succeed. The egg needs frequent turning, the right humidity and temperature. If you succeed, hand feeding every 1-2 hours around the clock, checking the crop for fullness, possible aspiration, sour crop, burned crop are big issues that take a lot of experience to avoid and there are other factors to know. The egg may not be fertile and needs to be properly candled. It really sounds like a scam. For your well-being and your future bird, find a reputable breeder. The parents of the egg are the best incubator there is and many well-meaning bird owners have accidentally caused the demise of many chicks. I can understand you eagerness and fascination with this deal, but if it is too good to be true, it probably is. Be careful with your money and don't buy site unseen. I think you may be taken so go the best route. Petfinder.com can hook you up with adopting a Macaw. This is just an option to check out. Have a great, safe year.

Suss! The chances of successful hatching and rearing a chick and pretty slim. Better to spend that money on a bird which is ready for homing.
For all you know you could be getting a chicken egg dyed!

the guy from cameroon is a scammer. he says he is from the united states but in the peace corp in cameroon. He always has what you're looking for and offers them either extremely cheap or free. Usually saying he is trying to re-home them. he gets you on the shipping etc. BEWARE do not trust. and lets be realistic for a minute:
Hyacinths cost anywhere from $7500-$10,000 why in the world would you sell one their eggs for $35 or $50?????

It sounds like he is trying to rip you off. Do more research. And if your paying the guy you shouldn't have to give the incubator back. 155 sounds like a lot to have to give something back to him.
