About 5 years ago there was this girl and we were sort of 'dating' in that I asked her out and she said yes, but we didn't actually go on too many literal dates. We did talk a lot on the phone though and that is actually the kind of relationship that I liked, sort of 'junior-high' level of seriousness. As high school finished I had a dilemma; I wanted the adventure of living away from home, but I also really liked this girl. In the end after much deliberation, I left to go to school. In the following school year, we became much closer than before via conversations on msn and the phone. I resolved to switch schools at the end of that year so I could go home. Well, before I could, she met someone else. I was extremely upset at the time, but figured it would taper out over time. That was in 2002! I still really like her though, and can't stop thinking about the whole thing. The stupid thing is, it wasn't even that serious in its time. Do I need to see a doctor or what?

Sometimes what we vision in our minds may not be realistic. As you said the relationship was kind of juvenile "junior High" level and it did grow to being more than that but obviously she did not return the feelings. If you want to settle it once and for all, call her and see where that goes .... If no where then its time for you to move on!
