The engagement ring goes on the second finger (Next to her Pinky) on the left hand. (Romans used to believe there was a link to this finger and the heart!) For your marriage ceremony. The groom takes off the brides engagement ring and places it on the second finger (next to her pinky) on the night before the wedding. The wedding ring goes on the second finger of the right hand also, and then the engagement ring goes on top.
Hope this helps.

I think maybe a lot of Americans are answering and he may not be American.
A wedding ring or wedding band consists of a precious metal ring, usually worn on the base of the left ring finger – the fourth finger (counting from the thumb) of the left hand. In some parts of the world, it is worn on the right ring finger (e.g. Bulgaria, Norway, Germany, Poland or Russia).
Such a ring symbolizes marriage: a spouse wears it to indicate a marital commitment to fidelity. The European custom of wearing such a ring has spread widely beyond Europe.
In America, it is custom to wear the engagement ring and wedding band on the left hand.
According to some customs, the wedding ring forms the last in a series of gifts, which also may include the engagement ring, traditionally given as a betrothal present. Other more recent traditions, and the jewelry trade, seek to expand the idea of a series of ring-gifts with the promise ring, often given when serious courting begins, and the eternity ring, which symbolizes the renewal or ongoing nature of a lasting marriage, sometimes given after the birth of a first child; and a trilogy ring, usually displaying three brilliant-cut round diamonds each, in turn, representing the past, present and future of a relationship.

Both are placed on the left ring finger. During my wedding (before the vows were said) I put my engagement ring on my right hand for the time being. After the ceremony was over I put it back on my left ring finger with my wedding band. I think everyone wears them differently but I wear mine with my wedding ring on first then my engagement ring directly after.

when youget engaged, the engagement ring goes on the left hand, 3rd finger (next to little finger) when you get married, the ring goes on the same finger, but she should put the engagement ring on her right hand for the duration of the wedding ceromony, so the wedding ring will be closest to the palm of her hand and then replace the ring. After a year or the birth of your first child, an eternity ring then goes on the same finger, so closest to the palm is wedding ring, then engagement ring, then eternity ring

I always known that the ring (engagment and wedding) always goes on the left hand. I've never heard of a ring going on the right hand.
