Get together with your spouse sit down and write your own vows. They can be anything. Maybe a couple of lines from your favorite songs. You can put in a little saying that you say to each other, it may mean nothing to other but the world to you two. That is the great thing about writing your own vows... There are no limits. Not to mention your own vows mean a lot more than vows somebody else made up.

I don't think there are any set rules regarding how long the wedding vows should be, the judge or minister just has to pronounce you husband and wife.
Here's a pretty poem you could recite:
For all my life
I will never cease loving you
For all my life
I will never tire of cherishing you
For all my life
I will never stop living each day with you
For all my life, yes I will
Love you and love you still
Until that day when the ocean
Doesn't touch the sand,
Until that time when the
Sun stops rising from east to the west,
Until that time when there's no more
Stars to count at night...
I shall love you
For all my life

The vows are not as long as you think you repeat about three to four lines!! You can always write you own or cite a poem!!

You can write your own. I was already overly stressed and didn't want to write my own, but also wanted something short. We did the whole repeat after me thing but I asked the preacher to take out most of it. We only did one prayer and half of the repeat after me stuff. I would suggest if you have time to write your own though.

check around from different civil marriage locations and ask some of the people who perform the ceremony what words they say to the bride and groom as far as vows and promises to one another. Ive heard some and they can be very nice and bring you to tears! peace.
