he is colombian but doesnt speak fluent fluent spanish..... its on frieday, so .. thts what makes me think is a date.

When you have an appointment you can say "tengo un compromiso", is a formal or polite way to say you have a date. However it could be used to say that you have another thing to do.

It depends, for some people it's hard and some people find it easy. Like i'm a native english speaker and i think spanish is super easy because i grew up with puerto ricans and heard spanish all my life so i'm used to it. But most of my hispanic friends that learned spanish first, think english is hard. It really all just depends on the person.

compromiso used on that sentence only means you have already commit to do something at that time, it can be anything from a date, to a meeting or a family reunion, if you really need to know, you should asked him, Cual/Que compromiso?

he is married or engaged.
or
He may just be saying that he already has an obligation or a date with somebody else.

no that means an appointment but not necessary with a girl it can be from the office or something like that, I speak in Spanish
