Ok all I just moved down here to texas.. before that I only saw a tick once in my life.. I have 3 dogs.. & I let my dogs run in the yard with the 2 outside dogs here.. Not knowing that thoses dogs had ticks beyond anything I have ever seen or would like to again...Once We found about 20 big female ticks on our dogs we decided to shave the dogs to see just how bad the tick problem is.. Only to find our dogs are Covered in 100's of baby ticks.. some are so tiny they just look like little red dots.. My 3 dogs are inside dogs.. I have seen baby ticks on my bed ( gross I know, just think how I feel) My question is.. what can I do.. to get them Off my dogs.. Again Some are to small to pull off.. & how do I get them out of my house & yard... Again I just moved here So Im short of funds.. But I welcome any thoughts on this....

OTC stuff is harmful to pets. Bad as you'll hate hearing this the safest and most effective thing you coud do is get them to a vet.

You really don't have to go to the vet for this. I was worried about my dog's first tick too. At first I tried a spray but it did nothing, then I bought a pair of tick pliers at a pet supply shop and it worked like a charm. All you do is pinch and twist, and be sure that you took out the entire tick. When you see the feet of the tick you have it all. I don't do anything after that.

This sound's like you have a case of brown dog tick's. You need to get the dogs into the vet for treatment., and you need to hire an exterminator for the house A.S.A.P. The brown dog tick needs to feed off a dog to complete it's lifecycle. If you just treat the dogs, the tick's in the house should die, but you will probably need to hire an exterminator. I would get an appointment with the vet to have them treated, and have an exterminator come in while the dogs are gone, bringing the dogs back into the home after it is exterminated.

Hi Myst, long time no talk. I saw your question and used an information data base at the university where I work to look up some information about brown dog ticks. This is the link to just one article I found http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/IN378 If you want to look for more articles then use this site http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu . Now one of my friends uses some homestyle remedies. For carpets and rugs, buy a box of Boarateem laundry additive. One of the main ingredients is borax which more or less kills off eggs by inhibiting fertility. LOL it pays to read what you have to format for journals. Now I do know that it works for fleas, so you may want to give it a try on the ticks. Actually it wouldn't hurt to maybe consider giving the dogs a bath in a light mix. I mean we use it in our laundry. Good Luck. Trina (aka Shaellia)

OK, first you need to give them a bath with a flea and tick shampoo. Then spray every place the dogs go in the house with a tick killing spray or you can use a powder I believe. After you dogs dry from their bath apply flea and tick drops. Try to get one that protects them from mosquitoes as well. Keeps them from getting heartworm. If you follow those directions you will be fine. You should check yourself out as well. Ticks can give disease.

A natural way for dogs to communicate is to bark at things they find or see, usually which are interesting or a threat to them. If you have a dog that barks too much, then you want to find a way to calm down the instinct by offering the best dog training. While you want to make sure your dog can express themselves sometimes by barking, you also want to focus on not letting the noise become a burden. Following are some of the dog training tips that help your dog to stop barking while establishing basic obedience rules for the home.

Start young. If you have an older dog that hasn't been trained to stop barking, it is difficult to stop. You want to make sure that you train puppies not to bark if they are doing it too much. The younger you start training them, the easier it will be for them to understand the dog training commands.

Understand what barking is for. Barks from a dog are used for several reasons. You want to make sure you understand why they bark and whether this can be prevented. Some common reasons for barking are from the dog being bored or lonely. If there are distractions that the dog feels are a threat, they may also bark. You can prevent dogs from barking by giving them extra attention or by getting another pet.

Reward them when they stop. Just like other types of obedience training, you can easily stop your dog from barking by showing them when to be quiet. This is known as one of the best dog training methods. Dog training commands and words such as saying quiet, with a voice that has a low tone, will easily stop your dog from barking. Once they do stop, you can reward them by telling them good in a higher tone and by giving them a treat. However, you need to do this instantly after they stop so they understand what the reward is for.

Anti bark collars. If your dog instinctively keeps barking at everything, then you can get a collar for extra training. When the dog barks, a stimulus or scent is set off which causes slight discomfort for the dog. If you aren't around and your dog starts barking, it will immediately stop them.

Know when to train. You want to make sure you don't leave your dog in a position where they can't express themselves. Even if you have neighbors who don't like the dog barking, there are certain times where they should be able to speak. Knowing when to apply commands and training and when to let them bark helps them to feel comfortable while allowing you to apply limitations.
The ability to offer the best dog training is one that is reliant on consistency and understanding your dog. If you have a pet that naturally wants to bark, then finding a way to monitor the behavior is the best step to take. Following these dog training tips can help you to establish better behavior with your dog while allowing them to express themselves at the right time.
