i think cicciolina was photographed as the virgin mary it looked like a brightly coloured, bordering on gaudy, renaissance painting? I thinkJean Paul gaultier was photographed as well in this style? I cant thinkn of the name, I am sure the artist is known by one name only but I could be wrong/ I remember taschen postcard books had this artist but I cant find it on thier website! Please help me find out who this artist is!!! Its driving me insane! ta!

Ciccolina was dressed like teh virgin mary, brightly coloured, almost gaudy, colours, the photo framed with brightly coloured flowers. In the style of a renaissance painting and teh photo was in soft focus. Jean paul gaultier has been shot in such a manner but I cant remember if it was with religious theme. I saw this at beginning of the nineties and I know for a fact it wasn't jeff koons, thanks for the suggestion though, i think the artist had a single name? Please help, its driving me MAD!!!!!

Are you talking about David LaChapelle? His photographs are quite saturated in their colors and his gaudy aesthetics rival that of Koons. However, unlike Koons LaChapelle actually does his own work instead of commissioning people to do his art for him.
