I have tried to keep myself from talking to myself but it has becomea bit of ahabit over the years the earleist i can rememnber talking to myself is when i was 6 i am pretty sure i was younger then that when it first started happening. I want to break myself of this habit are there any medications that can help me? Or any treatments. Note- I have no freinds because of my lack of social skills my family is pretty much my only sorce of social interraction. The reason i have poor social skills is because well when my parents got divorce i went to live with dad and well he has serious mental issues he would neverlet meleave house. Anyways what can i do? iS IT WEIRD THAT I HAVE CONVERSATIONS WITH MYSELF. I am pretty much my own freind

Based on the other questions you've posted, I would have guessed that you don't have a ton of friends even if you hadn't admitted it so, sure, I can see you having conversations with yourself.... someone who accepts you the way you are and never criticizes you.... or questions the validity of your assumptions. It's nice and easy to blame your father for your poor social skills but unless he has you locked in a tower or dungeon then it's not really a valid excuse. You do go to school, don't you? Go talk to the school counselor. You sound like you need it.

If you have no contact with the outside world then it is no wonder you speak to yourself. Have you spoken to a doctor or social worker about your problem so you can get the type of help you need? You have to go out and join some clubs/library/college/karate etc to meet people where your confidence will improve and you will no longer have to speak to yourself. Dont think of yourself being weird but probably more lonely and in desperate need of friendship. Seek help and your life will become richer. Does your parents know you feel this way? Have you anybody you can speak to like a teacher? Why not join a church where people are very friendly. Good luck and dont give up

Depends...are you a good conversationalist?

Seriously, no, it isn't a problem. Just make some friends to talk to. Different opinions are a good thing. Being social is a good thing. You can do it.

Before you try medications, you might try your school counselor or a professional counselor. You just need to learn to talk to people. It's a skill to be learned, not a disease to be cured.

It's totally normal to have conversations with yourself. I talk to myself sometimes and so do most people I know. Everyone has some sort of internal dialog or train of thought inside their head, and sometimes it just kind of slips out your mouth. If it's really all the time, then may you could talk to a therapist to learn not ways to better control what comes out of your mouth, but that's only if you're doing it really all the time, or when other people are talking to your or stuff.

The only time you should start to worry is if you think you're talking to someone else and you're really talking to yourself :-P

there's nothing wrong with that.
I do it all the time. to be honest I've been talking to myself ever since I was a kid too.
I didn't have much friends in my teen years and lacked social skills mostly because no one wanted to be friends with the curly haired, extremely tall skinny girl who was a bookworm with huge glasses on :D
consider talking to yourself as thinking out loud :)
there is nothing wrong with thinking, is there? :D

Some people do talk to themselves and there is nothing wrong with that. It has nothing to do with you not being social with other kids. You need to try to socialize with kids of your age it is healthy and it can be a-lot of fun to have a friend! We all need friends. They come in handy and you will be a handy friend to someone someday to. So don't think you have mental issues just find someone to talk to and get to know them.

I talk to myself all the time. I think it keeps me from going crazy. I know a woman at my work that holds more conversations with herself than she does other people. A lot of times I think she is speaking to me, but she apologises and says she is talking to herself.
