Well, i was cleaning out the back of my truck i just bought, and in the tool box was a stun gun. Not an actual one that shoots, but the hand-held ones that you use close range. I was just wondering, how painful is it for a quick zap? Im tempted to do it, but kinda nervous. Also, is this illegal to carry around in public (like in a pocket) or in a vehicle for self defense?

First: You need to make sure your local law enforcement agency approves of a citizen owning a stun-gun...laws vary from city to city and from state to state.
Second: You need to check the voltage of the gun...10,000 volts=a little sting; 50,000 volts= a stun; 100,000= a whole lotta hurt!! 900,000= most likely comatose.
Third: You need to have lessons on how to equip yourself with a stungun...Just because you don't have bullets in it doesn't mean you can't seriously injure/kill someone with it.

good question. l brought mine from a hardware store.. they checked to see if i was over 21 but i got mine in with in seconds..then a few months later i was watching the news... and heared a man got stunned by one of those things and died from a heart attack.. now it is high up in my closet.. i never take it out.. you can call your local police station and tell them your thinking of buying one.. and that you want to know what the law is for having one

If you live in Canada it would be illegal to possess one, so I would destroy it or turn it in to police.
