I want to re-ask this question and put a link. The president of Iran stated that bringing chaos to the world would bring back the Muslim messiah sooner. do other Muslims believe in this or is this just something from Iran??? I am not talking about Jesus.

All Muslims believe in the comming of the Mahdi who will lead the whole Islamic nation. But Shia Muslims who are represented as Iran now have a different look. They believe that he will fight against the descendants of Abu Sufyan "I don't know why" and that he will kill a lot of Arabs "inspite that he is Arab!?"
They believe that with more the chaos the more sooner he will come. Not all Shia believe in this but some groups among them.
We Sunni Muslims "90% of Muslims" Believe that the Mahdi will be chosen as a leader against his own well in Mecca in the holy mosque. And that he will unite the whole Islamic nation. We believe that he will be named Muhammad Abdullah and that he is going to be from the descendats of prophet Muhammad from his daughter Fatimah. We believe that in his age justice will preveal. Also that other nations from anti islamic side will send a huge army to fight him in Syria and this might be the battle which the Bible told about "Harmageddoon or something like that" and that he will win at the end. After this the false messiah will come and he will have a lot of followers mostly from Jews. Then Jesus PBUH will descend from heaven by God's will and meat the Mahdi and pray with Muslims behind the Mahdi. Finally the true messiah "Jesus PBUH" will kill the false messiah or "the beast".
That chaos thing is not among our beliefs. And participating in making chaos is a sinful act.

Some christians believe this too. There was a group in Japan that set off bombs in the subways trying to get JEsus to come back . Variou other people have tried this too but its never worked. its not a muslim thing just an apocalyptoplile thing.
