I own a Bow Tech (2 years old this coming fall) myself but I have looked into those Mathews and I think they'er one of the best out there right now and by far better then any Browning.

The best thing to do is forget about buying a bow because of the name brand and shoot several bows to see which one you like best. I've owned both Browning and Mathews bows. I currently shoot a Mathews SQ2 and an Oneida Strike Eagle. The Oneida is the smoothest bow I've ever shot but with outboard limbs that move it's impossible to shoot sitting on the ground and in a tree stand I have to be careful of tree limbs over my head. The SQ2 is short enough that I can hold it in front of me sitting on the ground and still have ground clearance. The Browning was fast but with the hard cams it felt like I was pulling more draw weight than I was. It was several years ago so they are better now I'm sure. Go to a pro shop and shoot several bows to see which one you like best. They will make sure the bow is properly fitted to you and can set it up with all the accessories you need and make sure the arrows match the bow. Remember, just because a bow costs more doesn't mean you'll shoot it better. Find one that feels comfortable to you and you'll shoot better and enjoy it more. Good luck in picking out the right bow and then have fun shooting.

You should buy the one that feels the best and shoots the best for YOU.
The brand isn't important, hitting the target is, and that means being comfortable with your bow.
I shoot a Mathews Switchback, but that was after trying out several different brands. The Switchback just felt the best to ME in MY hand. That doesn't mean it will fit the next person though.
Go to the Archery Pro Shop and try out several.

Mathews, but I live less than 80 miles from the factory. The same guy that own's and created Mathews also started McPherson, I think McPherson is still in or near Austin, MN

Neither!!!!
I'm a personal fan of the Bowtech Allegiance Chrome. One of the fastest bows made. Acheiving major sucess in target, 3D and hunting throughout the world....that and its wicked smooth, silent as anything and so light! Retails for around $1600 aussie dollars bare bow!

My family has used Bear bows since the 1960's. I have used them for about 10 years myself. I currently have a Bear Instinct and it is awesome. I would not trade it for anything. I have taken 2 deer with it so far. If money weren't an issue i would still shoot a Bear.

The best advice I could give you is to go to your nearest archery pro shop and look at what's available, handle some of the bows that you like the looks of, talk to the pro's and get their advice and recommendations. A good archery pro shop would likely also have a range where you could try out different bows to see which one you like the best and that fits your hand and needs the best.

I have only hunted with a PSE. I have shot the switchback but never felt it to be any better than my pse. brand names dont mean crap with bows, same as guns and pretty much everything else.
