I am a Christian and I believe in a loving God. I believe he loves everyone.I do respect others beliefs what ever they maybe but just because I respect someone I do not have to agree with you.

So is your blanket statement regarding Christians going to affect me? I have a whole lot of atheist friends who have no complaints that I am a Christian. I don't treat anyone with cruelty, or disdain. What I learned from Jesus is to love others, and to live a somewhat altruistic lifestyle. I treat other Christians the same as I treat my atheist friends. I teach people about what the Bible teaches, when they ask me to...and many ask me to because I don't behave like a person of the world. I am a kind man, and I believe that God is more kind than you or I deserve. By His Grace alone, and not by any works that I perform will I be saved. I do what I do because I love God...Jesus said if you love me, keep my commandments. What better way to keep his commandments then to try to live like he did...in these modern times, it's not easy to work, and be a person that helps others, for nothing...people often show no respect, but I don't do it for respect...I do what I do because I love my God.

The double conventional is that some Christians call for 100% appreciate for themselves, yet then coach none for others. they strive against to cram their beliefs on others (insisting that all and multiple else's beliefs are "incorrect" and they are worshiping the incorrect god). Then they do all they can to get their beliefs pushed into the colleges, the authorities, the criminal equipment, etc. so others are compelled to stay with assistance from them. yet when all and multiple gadgets those similar human beings cry "persecution". Likewise if all and multiple else has their faith represented interior an identical way those persons have a in effective condition (or maybe bypass so some distance as to hotel to vandalism). Does that answer your question?

It sounds like you've had some bad experiences with people who use the NAME but don't obey His commands. But to say all christians are bad..You don't know your history. Harriet Beecher Stow was a christian, and was called by Abraham Lincoln( who also was a christian) "The little lady who stared the civil war." because of her book Uncle Tom's Cabin, which was also a book about the christian man Uncle Tom who forgave his persecutors! This book gave a true discription of the life of a slave, and cause such an upheaval world wide, that millions of (mostly christian) people demanded that slavery be put to an end, not just here , but world wide. Fredrick Douglas was also a christian, but also saw the hypocricy in "christian" slave owners. He had been a slave himself, and escaped and fought for not only the freedom of african americans, but women too! And what of the thousands of Quakers(a christian sect) who, at peril of there own lives led thousands of slaves to freedom on the underground railroad? There are countless good christians in history. True followers of Christ show His love. I hope you meet some soon.

Every religion has had people who do not practice what is preached in their religion.
You can not make a generalization and say Christians...as a group. You must determine worthiness of respect case by case...individually, not as a group.
How about Mother Theresa? Is she not worthy of respect?
There have been may great Christians in history...if you will judge a group...judge by what they best of them can be, not the people who fail in their practice.
(no, I don't call myself a Christian)

I tend to give others at least the same level of respect that they afford to me--and usually more. But I don't do it for them. I do it out of a sense of personal honor. I try not to allow others to dictate my actions. If they can't be civil, that's their problem. I'm responsible for my own actions and I want those actions to be respectful. I can get a bit snarky at times, but the point is that I consciously try to be the kind of person that I want to see.

Let me think about this, we Christians long for respect from people who don't even believe there's a God?" Hmmm, this is a toughie. Oh I got it, we who are conservative Christians could care less about your respect of us. What we have a problem with is your disrespect for people who ask serious questions about religion. We have all seen what you call respect displayed on this forum towards everyone who doesn't claim to be an atheist/pagan/whatever.

Which Christian are you talking about. You along with Thomas Paine don't know what you are talking about. While millions of Christians go about feeding the poor, visiting the sick, visiting those in prison, building schools, providing medication and water for the poor, helping the homeless, what do you do. You put them all in a bundle and curse God. What a nice person you are.

Certainly not, respect is earned not given, especially to whiny people that dont deserve it, if you give respect to people that treat you like crap, youre showing them that this behavior is acceptable, and they will take advantage of you and walk all over you.
