I have spaced-out teeth, and I've been weighing my options lately, as of how to get this fixed. I am 16 years old, and I'd hate to have to resort to braces. I've seen the commercials for Invisalign so many times, and now that I think of it, it would be a great alternative to traditional metal braces.

Has anyone ever had Invisalign? If so, were the results favorable?
Also, how much did the product cost? My insurance will not cover them (as they are for vanity/cosmetic purposes only), so I'm hoping they are not priced TOO over the top.

If you have any other information regarding this, please do share.

I am Orthodontist and can probably help you with this question. Invisalign is a great alternative to braces. However, it will never replace traditional braces. If you just want the teeth to straight it will work but I have better control with braces and the results are lot more optimal. I don't know where you live but in my Northern California practice, I charge $5230 for full treatment. There is no difference between traditional brace or Invisalign. Whatever you decide, seek treatment from an Orthodontist and not a general dentist certified in Invisalign. Hope That helps. Thank you.

I've had braces twice (my teeth were really screwed up to begin with), and both times were traditional ones. A lot of my firends had Invisalign. Here are what I perceive to be the seeling points of each:

Invisalign:
-Cosmetically appealing. You really can see them, though, and depending on the quality of your water they can turn gross and yellow over time.
-Removeable.
-None of that digging into your front lip or the base of your tongue. (Very handy if you're a musician.)

Traditional:
-Cheaper. I got mine for about half the price of what I would have paid for Invisalign.
-Less painful when tightening. People with Invisalign often had to miss a day of school whenever they got new ones because of the pain involved. I never missed a day over it.
-Glow-in-the-dark rubber bands! Okay, so I'm easily amused...

If you're only concerned about prom and senior photos and whatnot, remember that, depending on how you smile, you may not even be able to see traditional braces. (I had braces for both of those, and the photos show no indication it was the case.) On the other hand, if mom and dad are paying for it, you might as well go with what you really want.

I have had both....metal braces as a teenager, and invisilign 20 years later. They both worked well for me, EXCEPT, when my invisilign treatment was over, I was to wear my last set of trays as retainers, only at night. My bottom teeth would move slightly back into a crooked position just hours after taking the trays out for the day. My ortho left some to be desired also. My treatment cost under $2000, but insurance paid for half, and my treatment was only for a few months. (Invisilign Express) Remember, no matter which way you go, it is very important that you wear your retainers!

there is braces that go in the back of the teeth so it wont look like you are wearing any at all. maybe your insurance can cover those or a portion of them.
