It has to be real butter. Margarine has too much water. Butter will make them taste better than crisco too.

In most recipes you can substitute butter for the crisco. Just make sure to use real butter as margarine contains vegetable oil, which will make your cookies spread out flatter and cook crisper.

GO BEARS!
Yes, you can use butter instead of Crisco. I, personally, prefer it to Crisco, as it is less fattening and tastier than lard. It also makes your cookies turn out softer and gooier than batches made Crisco, perfect for the SUPER BOWL!!!!!!

It really depends on what typr of cookie your making, but honestly I have used butter instead of Crisco and they have turned out fine. Just stay away from tub butters, I have found these mostly make your cookies spread flat and very crunchy.

Hope this helps.

Butter or Margarine is just fine. Most cookie recipes ask for butter, not Crisco, for greasing. good luck.

You can use butter, but chill the dough before you bake it or the cookies will go flat.
